pinkytheent The Netherlands have been knocking it out of the park with their mystical black metal in recent years. Glowing black metal? Can we make that a laughably granular subgenre? Like svrm, a hazy glow suffuses this entire work, like rays of sunlight adjacent to a dark, shadowy hollow. I loved the gothic tinges and monotonous vocal deliveries that reminded me of Rope Sect. Great tone, thoughtful melodies and arrangements, and an accomplished mood of sadness, happiness, yearning, and ennui. Well done! Favorite track: Wervelwind.

porcelainheart- This is essentially what Adorn would sound like if they took a Blackgaze approach to their music, added some clean vocals, and ditched the classical music influences. Not a bad thing at all. FFO Adorn and later An Autumn For Crippled Children. Favorite track: Begeerte.

Dan Curhan Post-DSBM that's crawled out of its hole and seen the sunlight for the first time. Lighter, gazey vibes, with occasional clean vox. Overall a very strong effort, filled with emotion, excellent and varied songwriting, lush textures, compelling dynamic motion, and quality production. Highly recommended.

Dylan This is some of the best Blackgaze I've heard in quite some time. Every song is great, really hard to pick a favorite track, but for now I'm leaning towards the title track! Top notch stuff here! Favorite track: Begeerte.

bmurator Dutch Depressive Black Metal. DSBM is not really for me most of the time because it tends to be far too much about the "D" or the "S" at the expense of the music. This is far from the case here! This one man project from the incredibly talented musician, W. Damiaen, appears to have it all. Depressive atmospheres & extremely strong emotional passages, the whole immersed in fantastic music! There are many post-BM elements to this too. Highly recommended!!!

NONE a opéré un virage dans Where Life Should Be et ça se confirme davantage dans Damp Chill of Life. Le temps des métaphores est révolu : l'humidité froide, c'est celle des larmes qui coulent sur le visage à cause de la dépression. Tout pleure dans cet album : les guitares typées DSBM grésillent, les solos ("The Damp Chill of Life", "It's Painless To Let Go") sont liquides et coulent, les voix prennent à la gorge ; même le piano, étranglé par les sanglots ("Cease"), est aphone. 《 So many questions 》 — "Rest", Inevitable. NONE. La mort est une épée de Damoclès : elle va tomber et on en a conscience ; on ignore quand et on la redoute. Tel est le thème d'Inevitable. Pour pousser ce concept jusqu'au bout, NONE fait en sorte que ce quatrième album soit à double tranchants. Sur le plan quantitatif, DSBM et dark ambiant sont sur un pied d'égalité : si le premier est toujours aussi dévastateur, le second n'est pas là pour apporter du réconfort.
